The valve guides and the  valve seat inserts are

supplied as partially finished parts. The unfinished

valve guides and unfinished valve seat inserts are

are then cut and reamed in one operation with special

tooling. This procedure ensures the concentricity

of the valve seat  to the valve guide in order  to

into groove (7) at each end of the bridge. Apply the

sealant into the groove until the sealant is forced

through the bottom end of the groove in the bridge.

Note: The timing mark  is toward the outside of

the crankshaft when the gear  is installed on the

crankshaft.

Note: All  new turbocharged engines  and

turbocharged aftercooled engines have crankshafts

that are nitrocarburised. The crankshaft can  also

be nitrided for  20 hours, if the nitrocarburised

process is not available.  After a crankshaft has

been machined, the crankshaft must be rehardened.

Inspect the crankshaft for cracks before machining

and after machining. Naturally aspirated engines

have induction hardened crankshafts.
